What people say about Learning Journeys

Melissa Baker, Sacred Heart College (February 2012)

"I do want to thank you though, I have found the day at Tahuna Torea with you fantastic and your expertise invaluable. Many thanks."

Kristen Juriansz, Muirfield High School, Sydney (April 2011)

"All the students were so emotional when they got in to Sydney - in a very positive way. Many crying and saying it is a trip they will never ever forget. I want to thank you once again for organising such a professional, educational and extremely enjoyable tour - I do not have one negative thing to say. I also want to extend the same welcome to you and Simon if ever you are in Sydney. I would be wonderful to catch up if you are ever over our way. "

Christine Pike, England (March 2011)

"What a wonderful day we had with Simon on 9th March when our cruise ship Aurora arrived in Tauranga for the day. The ten of us who were in Simon's care for the day were so fortunate; it was one of the best days in the whole cruise. Interesting and entertaining, Simon gave us information about what where we were going and knew the best times to do what. Our day was packed with interest; we visited a kiwi fruit orchard, a category 5 rapid, the walk to the viewing platform was full of interest about the various plants and leaves; then to Rotorua and its geysers with full explanations. We were also treated to some interesting stops on our return journey and a even a tour of Tauranga. A well packed day full of interest. Thank you Simon."

Angela Craw, Director of International Students, Papanui High School (May 2010)

"You guys are doing a great job. Keep up the good work! We have every confidence in your programmes and I enjoy telling the students about your events at our weekly meetings. Sending the info directly to us makes sure that it is passed on to the students. I do encourage them to visit your website and I think the students enjoy accessing it themselves.

Keep up the good work! What you are doing at the moment is fantastic. Please pass this on to your team."

Sue Shepard, Hamilton Boys' High School, July 2010

"Thank you for a fabulous fieldtrip on Friday. We saw our boys today and they were full of praise for the day saying how much they had enjoyed it and how knowledgeable they thought you were. As far as we are concerned it was an excellent day you were thoroughly prepared and everything went to time. The boys have begun to do the land use transects and the patterns are coming through very clearly.."

Sue Miller, Mount St. Benedict College, Sydney, Australia, about a five day chemistry and ecology trip for year 12 students.

"Thank you for taking us over the Tongariro Crossing - I never imagined it went up so high. Danielle and Andrew were also excellent guides. I hope we will bring another group in two years time and we will certainly organise whatever we can with you.”

Tim Holden, HOD Biology, Westlake Boys’ High School about  a two day genetics and evolution trip.about  a two day genetics and evolution trip.

"Many thanks for all your fantastic organisation and stimulating programme of events. The student feedback is very positive so far, and they have completed an evaluation form which we will pass on to you. Hopefully we will meet up again in the future for another field trip with the Westlake students."

Evelyn Ku, Geography Dept. Singapore Chinese Girls' School (Independent)

"Thank you to you too for being so patient with our girls and going the extra mile to accommodate our requests. We had a wonderful time and we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. I hope you have a wonderful year ahead of you and we look forward to seeing you again."

Andree Timbs, Teacher of Science and Biology, Whakatane High School

"year 13 Biology trip: Excellent organization. Activities planned to suit the group of students and teachers. Takes the stress out of organising things for teachers. Great people to work with.”

Peter Fergusson, HOD Science, Whakatane High School, Whakatane, NZ

“Learning Journeys has run a number of activities for Whakatane High School. The trips have been the highlight of the students’ year and are invariably well-organised and the sessions well facilitated. It certainly reduces the stress and workload for staff.”

Kapua Bennett, year 12 student, Rotorua Girls' High School

"There were a lot of good things that have happened on this trip: I have made new friends. Snorkelling was fun. It was my first time and it was amazing. The purpose was to learn and that was what I did. It was a great experience. I will never forget it and will try to convince my parents into coming here again. The reserve is a beautiful place. I had a great time."

Leeds Girls’ High School about a two week tour of the North and South Islands.

"Our final thanks must go to Michele Beaton, of Learning Journeys. She organised every step of our tour - accommodation, travel, food and destinations, making sure that every day was packed with visits to interesting places. She found us high quality, budget accommodation in New Zealand's super Youth Hostels, organised self catering breakfast food, which kept costs down considerably and booked super evening meals for us in local restaurants.

To put it in a nutshell, she made the whole experience enormously enjoyable for the teachers in charge as well as the girls. From the teachers' point of view, her careful planning made our jobs easy. We were able to relax completely, in her capable hands.

She made the trip a real pleasure and imparted her knowledge of New Zealand's geology, wildlife and vegetation with such enthusiasm that we all learned a tremendous amount about the country and we'd all like to pay a return visit someday."
"On behalf of all the teachers, please allow me to express my thanks and gratitude to you for the time and effort you have put in on the trip, from the planning stage to its implementation."

Leong Kai Ling Geography teacher, Singapore Chinese Girls' School, about an eight day biology and geography themed trip.

"On behalf of all the teachers, please allow me to express my thanks and gratitude to you for the time and effort you have put in on the trip, from the planning stage to its implementation.

We know that the girls enjoyed themselves and learnt a lot from the programme. New Zealand is such an ideal and rich field site for outdoor study. Likewise, the teachers have gleaned new insights and deepened our own understanding in our subject area.

Thank you too, for being patient with our girls, when they have been tired, quiet and slow-moving. The girls appreciated your caring approach greatly.

I am heartened that a warm relationship has been established between SCGS and you (and Simon, of course). Do feel free to drop us a line when you come to Singapore."
